Katy Perry's support for her track Runaway on her blog brought the singer additional recognition. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music is finding an old grand piano hidden in the attic. She was fascinated by its capabilities. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged her to learn music, not for a job or a hobby however, as a chance to grow. In order to do so she wrote her first songs that were her own creations. She cites renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with an affinity for Bjork's style. Her mother was supportive of her performing her music publicly, not so that she could achieve fame, but rather to help others realize that they matter and the good they do to make a difference in the world. As a young girl She began playing the piano, and when she was nine, started writing songs. This was not known by her family until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora wasn't a childhood dream. Aurora claims she loves creating songs. She claims that music is her most preferred way to feel anything.
